How Signals Are Ranked

What Makes a Strong Signal?

Each insider trade is analyzed using a transparent ranking framework. Higher-conviction setups are prioritized first. Here’s what we look for:

Primary Conviction

These are the strongest drivers of buy-side signal quality.

  • Ownership Conviction: Larger buys as a percentage of post-trade holdings rank higher.
  • Historical Timing Skill: Insiders with stronger average follow-through on prior buys get more weight.
  • Price Context: Buys near 52-week lows or after meaningful drawdowns are treated as higher-conviction.
  • Net Buying Pressure: Net shares bought versus sold helps distinguish real accumulation.
  • Repeat Insider Buying: Multiple buys by the same insider in a short window increase conviction.

Confirmation Signals

These strengthen confidence when they align with primary conviction.

  • Cluster Buying: Three or more insiders buying in a short window boosts confidence.
  • C-Suite + Board Cluster: Executive and director buying together gets a stronger boost.
  • Past Buy Transaction History: Example: "2 past buy transactions." More consistent follow-through on those past buys adds confidence.

Context Modifiers

These add context, but are weighted below core conviction factors.

  • Role + Tenure: Longer-tenured, high-role insiders receive additional weight on discretionary buys.
  • First-Time Transaction: First buy or sell in 5+ years is notable and used as supporting context.

Sell-Side Risk

These deepen bearish interpretation for sell signals.

  • Sell Risk Patterns: Repeated selling, cluster selling, and high-role exits increase sell-side warning strength.

Idea generation, watchlist prioritization, and timing confirmation alongside your own analysis.

How to use signals effectively

01

Prioritize

Rank opportunities by conviction factors, insider role, and cluster behavior.

02

Verify

Check the insider's track record when available. If it's a first-time buyer, treat history as limited and lean more on conviction, cluster behavior, and price context.

03

Context Check

Cross-check trend, liquidity, earnings calendar, and risk/reward structure.

04

Execute

Use AI explanation to stress-test the thesis, then define entry, invalidation, target, and position size before execution.

Signals are decision support, not guaranteed outcomes. Combine them with your strategy and strict risk management.

For investors who read filings closely

Focus on the signal, not the dashboard.

A cleaner workflow for tracking insider conviction, reading concise AI explanations, and moving from filing to decision faster.

Pricing

Simple pricing. One clear plan.
